Booth , 2016.   Southern yellow pine, mic clip, light bulb, shower curtain hooks, vinyl-coated mesh, steel, extension cord. Booth , a hybrid of a phone booth, a sound booth, and a voting booth, is a work that articulates concern about the power and influence of one person speaking to many. The microphone illuminates the viewer rather than projecting his/her/their voice. The ineffectual lectern faces the wall, while the perforated privacy curtain exposes the viewer inside. The gallery audience becomes both the voter/vocalist entering the booth and the observer peaking though the curtain.  This work was created prior to the 2016 election.
